Aside from being an all-round nut, cableguy is just your run of the mill net denizen. He enjoys programming in C++ and PHP.

He also seems to like to refer to himself in the third person…

Actually, I’m the guy who has had the above view for over 19 years. I have worked extensively in the North East of the US. I started in cable when I finished my tour in the Army. Back when Reagan was in the White House.

Working in Cable Television (CATV) over the years has been a lot of fun. A friend of mine once summed it up.

“You get to do all the things your mother told you not to, curse, play in the street and pee outdoors.”

That makes me think of good old Tim every time it pops in my head. May he rest in peace.

I am currently in the process of taking a new job with the company I’ve been contracting from. It is a big change for me so please excuse me I’m my postings get a little spotty over the next few weeks. One really nice thing, at least for the readers is that I will, for the most part, be dealing with prep work for our VoIP rollout. This will give me the opportunity to deal first hand with the problems and solutions to getting high quality phone service over cable. I’m excited about the change and will now be able to be working in my own neighborhood, instead of 250 miles away from it.

Perhaps now I will get back to more cable tv postings. If you have anything you would like to hear about don’t hesitate to contact me and I will try to address specific questions.
