Since the Sidebar Widgets plug-in is now in use there may be some changes around here. I see now why the “Widget Compatible” stamp is a consideration when choosing a theme. It makes it ridiculously simple to adjust the way your pages display content.
- Step One - Pick a theme that supports widgets. I chose the Mandigo theme.
- Step Two - Activate the Sidebar Widget plug in.
- Step Three - Go to the Sidebar Widgets tab in Presentation.
- Step Four - Move an available widget to the appropriate location and view.
- Step Five - And so on…
The Mandigo theme has the option to be three column and that gave me room to play around.
I am glad you find it useful, and thank you for the feedback.
Do you really have to “Activate the Sidebar Widget plug in”? I thought it was enabled for everyone already.
When the plug-in gets installed it just allows the blog owner the choice to use it or not. They still need to hit the “Activate” button from the PlugIn tab from the CP.
So sorry, I’m confused this morning. You are correct, once the Sidebar Widget deal is installed it is immediately ready.
What I should have said was, “To use the new plug-in widgets, go and activate them”. I am using the google search box that had to be activated.
Sorry for the confusion.
